Born into the prominent Ontario Jackman family, Nancy Ruth forged her own unique journey as a philanthropist, feminist politician, and activist.
Born into privilege but expected to use her advantages for the good of others, Senator Nancy Ruth has led an uncommon, unconventional life. From her religious ministry to rewriting Canada's national anthem to make it gender-neutral, this outspoken, complicated woman has put her stamp on Canada's public life. Her generous feminist philanthropy allowed numerous women's organizations to flourish, and her talents for friendship and for controversy meant the work was serious but never dull. Like Nancy herself, this book is rich in surprises and contradictions about a remarkable woman who used her privilege to support social change and the battle to better women’s lives in Canada.

Dr. Ramona Lumpkin
Dr. Ramona Lumpkin is the Interim President & Vice-Chancellor of Mount Saint Vincent University. Her previous roles include being President Emerita of Mount Saint Vincent University, Principal of Huron University College and V.P. Academic and Provost of Royal Roads University.
In 2014, Dr. Lumpkin was appointed as a Member of the Order of Canada. In October of 2017 she received the Governor General’s Persons Case Award for her advocacy on behalf of women’s rights.
Dr. Lumpkin is the author of Nancy’s book, “The Unconventional Nancy Ruth”, and lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Comme son auteure, ce livre riche en surprises et en contradictions présente une femme remarquable qui a utilisé ses privilèges pour appuyer le progrès social et la l’amélioration de la condition féminine au Canada.

Dre Ramona Lumpkin
Dre Ramona Lumpkin est présidente par intérim et vice-chancelière de l’Université Mount Saint Vincent. Auparavant, elle a été directrice du Huron University College et vice-rectrice à l'enseignement et doyenne de l'université Royal Roads. En 2014, Mme Lumpkin a été nommée membre de l'Ordre du Canada. En octobre 2017, elle a reçu le Prix du Gouverneur général en commémoration de l'affaire « personne » pour son action en faveur des droits des femmes.
M. Lumpkin est l’auteur du livre de Nancy, The Unconventional Nancy Ruth, et vit à Halifax, en Nouvelle-Écosse.
