Famous 5 Foundation History
The Famous 5 Foundation was launched on October 18, 1996 (the anniversary of the 'Persons' Case) and in 1997 was registered as a not-for-profit charitable corporation to honour the Famous 5 and other Canadian women.
Frances Wright is the founder and was the original President of the Famous 5 Foundation. In 2004, she received a Governor General Award in Commemoration of the Persons Case. The award honours those who have made outstanding contributions to the quality of life for women in Canada.
